The Bible Law of Attraction And Wealth
76The law of attraction and wealth has been a topic of a whole lot of interest in recent years. The majority of Christian men and women are convinced that it is "new age".
Nothing could be further from the truth!!!
Did you know that if you actually read the Bible for yourself that you would discover over 200 passages that support the concept of the law of attraction. Some of these passages go as far back as three thousand years?
Take a minute to study this article and you will find ample evidence of the harmony between the Bible, law of attraction and wealth.
What Is The Law Of Attraction?
Simply put, the law of attraction states that whatever we believe, do or express will cause a change in our reality.
I like to state it this way:
Our thoughts, amplified by our emotions, create our reality
Many Christians believe
that accepting the idea that WE create our reality denies the concept of God as
the Lord of our life.
As a result, many Christians have certain misconceptions about the law of attraction and Christianity which result in a lifetime of struggle and unhappiness.
Let’s take a look at them:
"As a man thinketh, so he is."
Proverbs 23:7
The Law Of Attraction "Just Isn’t Christian"
Those that offer the idea that the law of attraction "just isn't Christian" ignore the plain language of the Bible. I think that this resistance to the idea presents a problem fro some pastors who want to maintain control over the members of their congregation.
The fact is that Proverbs clearly states that a man becomes what he thinks. Proverbs 23:7. By controlling your thoughts you can control the circumstances in your life.
"Make no mistake: God will not be mocked, for a person will reap only what he sows." Galatians 6:7
The Law Of Attraction Allows The Wicked To Prosper
This is partially true, but does not tell the whole story.
While
it is true that a person can manifest a reality of abundance independent of
whether or not he performs good works, he is still bound by the concept of
karma or “reaping and sowing.” A wicked man prospers because he thinks that he can. But, eventually, his wicked thoughts, attitudes and beliefs will take over his garden like weeds and choke out the fruits of his mental labor.
This is why the concept of grace is so important for Christians. The concept of grace in Christianity dictates that
we can receive eternal life without being “good.” By accepting grace, we can avoid one of the major problems with implementing the law of attraction: that we are not "good" enough to receive God's power and mercy.
The Bible also reiterates the concept of karma and “reaping and sowing.” Clearly, any time you sow nothing, you should reap nothing at all. Reaping and sowing does not only apply to actions, but to thoughts as well. If you sow self defeating and self sabotaging thoughts, you will reap the fruits of that activity whether or not you are “good” or “bad.”
Christianity teaches us that (1) we are worthy, (2) we are to be thankful for all that we have, (3) that we are to love one another as Christ loved the church, (4) we are entitled to ask God for anything; and, (5) if we believe that we received them, we will do so.
“Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." Matthew 19:24
"Moreover, God is able to make every grace abundant for you, so that in all things, always having all you need; you may have abundance for every good work." 2 Corinthians 9:8
"I come so that they may have life and have if more abundantly." John 10:10
Money Is The The Root Of All Evil
Actually, this passage is often misquoted. It is the LOVE of money that is the root of all evil.
This passage, and others like it, is often misinterpreted as a basis to embrace poverty. However, what it really says is that it is difficult to get a rich man to trust in God. They often feel that they do not need God because of their abundant wealth.
In Matthew 19, Christ told the rich young man to go and sell all of his possessions and become a disciple. Christians often refer to that passage as a basis to embrace poverty. However, they misunderstand this passage as well. Christ sensed that the rich man had a relationship with his wealth that would interfere with his ability to put God first. As such, he told the rich man to sell it all.
Sadly, the rich man could not comply with the request of Christ.
The fact is that ,frequently, God honored righteous people with prosperity. The Bible is packed with stories regarding righteous, affluent folks. Take a look at the stories of Solomon, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, David and Joseph of Arimathea, the list is extensive. Rich persons in the Bible were not rebuked for his or her riches.
God desires all of us to become abundant in all things. There's no question, God prefers all of us to live an abundant life and also have wealth in all things.
"For the love of funding is the reason for just about all evils" 1 Timothy 6:10
Matthew 8:13 "as you have believed, let it be done for you."
Matthew 9:29 "let it be done for you according to your faith."
Money Is The Root Of All Evil
First of all, the law of attraction isn't just about financial resources. It is often taught with respect to financial resources because most people are lacking sufficient financial resources, especially during a recession. However, the universal law of attraction can be applied in every single aspect in your life.
Financial resources are not the cause of wickedness. Could you build a school or supply the less fortunate without wealth? Can you care for the sick without having sufficient financial resources to feed yourself?
Of course not!
If you desperately want to support the less fortunate, earn funds and use it to assist these people. The more you make the more you'll be able to assist.
Actually, the LOVE of money is the cause of all evil. It is the love of money that can make it more difficult for the rich man to get into heaven than a camel through the eye of the needle. It is the love of money that prevented the rich young man from following Christ.
Money is not an end in, and of, itself. It is to be used as a resource to help you fulfill your life purpose, provide for your family and for those in the world around you.
The Law Of Attraction Will Not Work For Me
It comes from a misplaced understanding of the relationship between God and his children. In the Old Testament, it was clear that God had an adversarial relationship with his people. Sin separated them.
But, because of the work done by Christ on the cross, the nature of God’s relationship with his children has changed. But, it takes both parties to change the relationship.
Many Christians refuse to fully accept the grace that Christ earned on the cross. They still see God (or the Father) as a tyrant, sitting on a throne, waiting to smite them for sinning; and reluctantly rewarding them when they have been good enough or have deposited the requisite number of prayers or deeds into the God Vending Machine.
God Is Not A Vending Machine
God is a Father, not a vending machine.
The reason that you do not receive abundance through the law of attraction is that you do not believe that you deserve it. Under the concept of free will, God will not give you anything that you reject. When you refuse to accept the gift of grace, you are saying to God "No, I refuse this blessing because I do not deserve it." And God acknowledges your exercise of free will.
On the other hand, a person who accepts the free gift of grace and lives by face recognizes that he or she is worthy - by virtue of Christ's suffering on the cross. He feels justified in asking for the desires of his heart. He believes that God wants to bestow good things upon him (just as wicked fathers know how to bestow good gifts on their children). But, most importantly, this person receives the gift (even if it has not yet manifested itself in physical form). He says "Yes" to God.
The Bible, Law Of Attraction And Wealth Are Compatible
The law of attraction is compatible with Christianity. In fact, it explains some of the paradoxes that seem to occur within the Christian paradigm.
The wicked prosper because they believe they can. Christians fail because they believe they are destined to do so. But, the reality is that Christ died on the cross so that there would no longer be any impediment for man to receive the full measure of God’s grace and power. But, God also gave man free will.
This includes the free will to refuse to believe that we are capable and entitled to abundance.
So, in the end, remember that you reap what you so. Sow good thoughts of abundance. Dream of the good that you will do with your new found resources. Claim the power and grace that Christ shed his blood to give to you; and…..
Go forth and prosper.

I enjoyed the article but disagree completely. I hope you do not mind but I have linked to your article as an example of one that promotes God's approval of certain views on wealth. I say it "is in direct contrast to the Church's teaching of a century ago when the poor were being told to put up with their lot since their reward would come later in heaven!"
The article that challenges your viewpoint is called, "Religion, Politics & A House Divided." I welcome healthy debate and you are most welcome to refer to anything I have said as examples of a particular viewpoint in anything you write!
Peace.
